STATEMENT: PRA on House Passage of the Lower Costs, More Transparency Act

Today, PatientRightsAdvocate.org Founder and Chairman Cynthia Fisher released the following statement on the overwhelming bipartisan House passage of HR 5378, also known as the Lower Costs, More Transparency Act:

PatientRightsAdvocate.org applauds the House Bipartisan Leadership for this first major step to deliver actual healthcare prices for care and coverage to consumers – including all patients, employers, and unions as purchasers.

This bill empowers consumers to be well-informed to choose the best care at the lowest prices. Knowledge of actual prices protects patients and employers from overcharges, and lowers the costs of care and coverage.

As the legislation progresses, PRA will continue to work to strengthen transparency requirements in pricing, billing, and payments to achieve accountability and integrity in healthcare.
